| With the motto Learning Today
.... Building Tomorrow, the Future Builders
of America are a big part of the future of
Florida's home building industry. Future Builders of America is a nonprofit
workforce development and student leadership
program created by the Florida Home Builders
Foundation. Locally, the Charlotte Technical
Center FBA chapter sponsored by the Charlotte-DeSoto
Building Industry Association is in its
second year. With close to 90 student members,
it is one of the largest FBA chapters in the
state.
Future builders of America members learn
outstanding leadership training skills and have
invaluable networking opportunities with some of
the area's most successful construction pros.
Guest speakers and field trips build career
awareness and readiness.
The Charlotte Tech chapter of Future Builders
of America has inaugurated an internship program
designed to give high school seniors who are
enrolled in the Construction Technology and
Drafting programs an opportunity to work in the
field with C-D BIA member businesses. The
on-the-job internship program is the capstone in
CTC's training program where worthy students
team up with professionals to gain real world
experience.
Top local students benefit form the
"$20,000 FBA Scholarship Club" which
offers scholarships annually to local FBA
seniors continuing their higher education. Equal
"Tools of the Trade" awards are given
each year to FBA graduates which will be entering
the workforce.
